DELAYED DEVELOPMENT IN CHILDREN
As a child grows and develops, he learns different skills, such as taking a first step, smiling for the first time, or waving goodbye. These skills are known as developmental milestones. Delayed milestones, or developmental delays, are used to describe the condition where a child does not reach one of these stages at the expected age.
What are the causes of such delay?
Developmental delay may be caused by a variety of factors, including heredity, problems with pregnancy, and premature birth. The cause is not always known.

How would One know if their child’s development is delayed?
When we talk about normal development, we are talking about developing skills like the ones below. IF a child does NOT have these skills by the end of the appropriate age period, a visit to the Homeopathic Doctor is VERY IMPORTANT:
Gross motor: using large groups of muscles to sit, stand, walk, run, etc., keeping balance, and changing positions.
Fine motor: using hands to be able to eat, draw, dress, play, write, and do many other things.
Language: speaking, using body language and gestures, communicating, and understanding what others say
Cognitive: Thinking skills: including learning, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning, and remembering.
Social: Interacting with others, having relationships with family, friends, and teachers, cooperating, and responding to the feelings of others

A set of milestones which if not met by your child in time, should make you look for medical help:
- Responds to parent’s voice by the end of 2nd month
- Attempts to try to talk by the end of 4th month
- Holds their steadily by the end of 4th month.
- Learns to roll over by the end of 6th month
- Sits without support by the end of 9th month
- Learns to crawl by the end of 9th month
- Learns to speak few words like mama, dada, etc., by the end of 12 months
- Gets into sitting position by the end of 12 months
- Walks without support by the end of 18 months
How can Homeopathy help in such cases?
Homeopathic medicines, which are selected as per constitutional symptoms, help overcome developmental delay to a large extent to aid normal development of the child. Delayed development – both at the mental and physical level – can be treated exceedingly well with Homeopathic medicines.
