POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER
Post – Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a psychiatric condition that often arises after an individual witness is involved in a life threatening event such as a disaster, rape or violent assault. Children and adults experiencing PTSD can relive the terrifying experience through nightmares, flashbacks and behavioral disorders including insomnia, crying and depression. They may feel estranged or detached from familiar surroundings, family members, friends and pets. In many cases PTSD can be so severe as to interfere profoundly with people’s daily life.
People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they are no longer in danger. PTSD is not new, being known by other names such as battle fatigue, shell shock, survivor’s guilt, and traumatic neurosis. Regardless of its name, the disorder is defined by a set of symptoms including hyper- vigilance, being easily startled, anxiety, irritability, cognitive dysfunction, anger, mood changes, fearfulness, numbness, inability to experience joy or pleasure, loss of memory and avoidance of areas associated with trauma. Natural remedies can help ease these symptoms and support an individual through their healing process to recovery.

THE HOMEOPATHIC DRUGS:
- Add more fun to your life – do things you enjoy and enjoy what you do. Pursue a hobby. Gardening is a soothing exercise. Go on a vacation.
- Get enough sleep and rest – your body should recharge and discharge tensions.
- Laugh often. Laughter is a great tension breaker and it enhances the immune system. Rent a funny movie, read a funny book or TV show that makes you laugh and keep it on hand for stress emergencies.
- Regular exercise is a great way to relieve tension, increase energy and improve the mood. Find an activity you like and do it often. Going for a walk clears the mind.
- Love more – learn to use things and to love people, instead of the other way around. Helping others through voluntary work takes attention away from anxieties.
- Eliminate self-pity – you may get sympathy for a while, but soon you will get avoided.
- Develop a meaningful relationship. It is important to have good friends in whom you can confide and find support. It is also important to be a true friend. Talk to such friends.
- Alter behaviors and attitudes – when ideas or views are not serving you well – change them. Learn to respond to situations, not react.
- Learn relaxation techniques like meditation, yoga, etc. to experience inner peace.
- Express your feelings. Do not suppress your emotions as it can create stress, pain and illness.
- Nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and refined carbohydrates should all be eliminated from consumption. These substances rob the body of stress fighting vitamins B and C, potassium, zinc and magnesium.

There is no better remedy to mend depression from a broken heart and betrayal, especially if it is still acute (fresh in the person’s mind). The Ignatia person reacts in her depression with sighing, sobbing and just sitting there immobilized, as if struck by a lightning. “Why me?” they ask in vain, left by a lover in whom they put all their emotional bank balance. “How could he do this to me?” They are very sensitive to the behavior of their lover, as if their very survival depends on that one person. An Ignatia person may also have psychosomatic symptoms such as sighing, choking, a stiff neck, and a globus hystericus . They often weep for help and attention. |
